God is in the details

If God is suppose to protect His people, how come He still lets bad things happen to them? There are various reasons, but sometimes, I don't know. But I do know that He is there, and is in control.

My institute (church class) teacher used to live in Joplin, Missouri, one of the places where an EF5 tornado recently tore through. (EF5 tornado is the deadliest rating, with winds over 200mph or 322 kmph) His son, who lives nearby now, took some pictures when he went back to help clear up the debris, and my teacher shared some of them with us. None of these pictures are staged, and were taken the exact way they were found.

The Stake building and meeting house that was almost completely razed to the ground.

The surviving picture of Christ washing his disciple's feet, exactly how they found it. It wasn't even crooked.
"Behold, now it is called today until the coming of the Son of Man, and verily it is a day of sacrifice, and a day for the tithing of my people; for he that is tithed shall not be burned at his coming." (D&C 64:23)
When God said that those who pay their tithing won't be burned at the last days, He wasn't kidding.
The bruised and battered picture of Christ, but it survived almost intact!
Many houses of church members were destroyed, but no one died.

Who says miracles don't exist?
God is in control.
